Welcome Debra Jupe—Author of Romantic Suspense

Welcome, Debra. It's a pleasure to have you here today to talk about your latest release, Toxic. I finished it this morning and loved the story line and the characters. You kept me guessing until the very end.

Please leave Debra a comment in the section below. On Wednesday evening I'll select a winner for an ecopy of Birdie's Nest.

Hi all! I'm Debra Jupe. I write romance/suspense, and I'm thrilled to be here. I'd like to thank my dear friend,
Linda LaRoque for allowing me to take over her blog today. I'm excited to meet her friends and readers.

I'm here to talk about my latest release, Toxic, published by The Wild Rose Press. Toxic is my third novel, but it's actually the first book I wrote. I began writing seriously in 20o4, during a particularly difficult period in my life, and Toxic is the result of that time.
The story takes place in a small town outside of Houston, quite like the one I lived in when I wrote the book. The setting is in a nursery and coincidentally I worked at a plant farm, so I used that experience throughout. The main character, Gracie Desoto probably has the closest personality to mine as opposed to any of my other heroines--mainly, she's a chocolate and soda lover--definitely a personal trait.

A lot of pleasure came from putting together this story. I hope you'll give it a read. Below is my blurb and a little teaser. Let me know what you think.

To find the truth, she'll have to defeat his darkness...

Blurb:
Landscaper Gracie Desoto is too busy building her business to worry about her love life. Until she receives news her ex-husband is getting remarried, and she meets the enigmatic Ethan McCarthy. Despite the warning bells, Grace can’t deny her attraction to the much younger man.

Ethan McCarthy is a man on the mission. His job keeps him on his toes, plus he’s dealing with personal issues he can’t figure out. He doesn’t have room in his life for a romance, until an encounter with the adorable Gracie changes his mind.
In a whirlwind weekend of missing plants and a murder with Ethan as a possible suspect,

Gracie is determined to solve the mystery and clear her man. Together, they head down a darkened path into an unknown where they may not survive.
Is their love toxic, or is it worth the risk?

Teaser:

A model employee, that’s what you are. I’ll tell Mike to give you a raise.” Gracie abruptly broke their connection. “Thank you for the dance. Now excuse me.” She whipped around on the slick floor. One leg slid in front of her, while the other slipped behind. She struggled to regain her poise and not perform the splits in front of the entire nursery industry.
Rough hands glided over her bare arms to steady her. “You okay?”
“I’m fine.” She didn’t bother to look in his direction as he set her back on her feet.
“Might want to go easy on the margaritas.”
She ignored his recommendation. Though grateful for stability, she wanted to get away from Ethan McCarthy pronto. She stood in mid-indignation not sure of her next move. Everyone seemed occupied, and she had no place to go. The bar caught her eye. The hell with his suggestion. Tonight the section of the restaurant was her only true friend.
A large hand encircled her forearm. “Easy, Ms. D.” Ethan pulled her to him. “It’s an observation. I need to know the feelings weren’t mutual.”
“Mutual feelings? With Reed? Why would you want to know that?”
His lips curved. “’Cause, I prefer not to make a move if you’re otherwise involved.”
“Make a move?”
“I’m pretty sure you understand the concept, but in case you don’t.” He brushed his mouth against hers, then smiled. “Consider yourself hit on.”

Flames on the Sky has been revised and is now 50% at The Wild Rose Press

Flames on the Sky, a time travel, has been revised and re-released. As with many books we find things after publication we'd like to change, but usually aren't given the opportunity. Fortunately I've been able to make those changes.
This novel is book II in the Turquoise Legacy. Book I is My Heart Will Find Yours. It is available at The Wild Rose Press and other online book stores.

The Anasazi whispered of his evil and of the woman who could defeat it. Fire, sky, and stone must unite to fulfill an ancient prophecy.
Madison Evans inherits a turquoise locket, travels to New Mexico, and discovers the stone dates back to the Chacoan Anasazi. When she's attacked, parks ranger Lonan Stone, of Chacoan ancestry, fears Madison's turquoise is a missing twin of the revered Fallen Skystone, an egg size piece of turquoise on display in Albuquerque. The mystical stone is missing two slivers – one’s in Madison’s necklace, the others whereabouts unknown, but if united by evil they can destroy.
Madison and Lonan are part of a 1000 year old prophecy to save Chaco Canyon. Thrust back in time, they meet a witch, solve a murder, fall in love, and imprison a 1000 year old evil spirit. Their mission complete, can these two people from different cultures blend their lives as the prophecy predicted?

Here is an excerpt.
Madison felt as if she'd traveled to the Twilight Zone. Lilly's claims were preposterous, but, she couldn't deny what she'd seen on the cliff face or the dreams.
"Yes, you need to tell me about the dreams. They started at the time you received the necklace, right?"
Madison nodded. "How did you know?"
"I assumed the ancient Elders would haunt you, but when Lonan called yesterday, I knew so for a fact." Her smile was sympathetic. "Tell me about them."
Lilly's eyes lit with excitement as Madison talked. When she finished, the older woman leaned back and closed her eyes.
Lonan's brow was furrowed, his mouth pinched. "What did you mean when you said, 'You are the one'?"
She pierced him with an intent look. "Did not Madison say you were the very image of the warrior in her dream? The prophecy requires that someone from the past, which is you, son, be chosen to be Madison's protector." Lilly turned to Madison.
Oh, no. I don't think I want to hear this. She held up her hands and shook her head. "No--"
"Yes, Madison, with hair of fire, whether you like it or not, the gods chose you, someone from the future, to find the third stone and reunite the twins with the mother stone. Together, you two will find a way to consign the evil one to the pit below Mother Earth, where he belongs."
