This recipe came from my good friend Nancy. Here in our area, the Captain Rodney Boucan Glaze has to be ordered either off the internet or from someone in the Dallas area. Hopefully you can find it in your neighborhood.
Captain's Cheese Bake
1/2 cup mayonnaise
8 oz. cream cheese
2 cups grated sharp cheddar
2 green onions, chopped
6 Ritz crackers, crushed8 slices of bacon, cooked and crumbled (I use packaged real bacon crumbles)
1/2 cup Captain Rodney's Boucan Glaze
Mix mayonnaise, cream cheese, cheddar cheese and onions in a greased quiche pan. Top with crackers and bake at 350 degrees for 15 minutes. Top with bacon crumbles and Captain Rodney's Boucan Glaze. Serve with crackers. Enjoy!
If you have difficulty finding Captain 'rodney's Boucan Glaze, a friend said this is a good substitute.
Bronco Bob's Roasted Mango Chipotle Sauce in HEB's specialty bottled sauce section.
I hope you'll leave a comment for the book drawing.
Thanks,
Linda

Ooh,this looks good. Always looking for new recipes to try. Think I get that from my Mom, who must have over 200 cookbooks. And often trying new recipes. Always know what to get her for a present.

Hi Leslie Jane,
ReplyDeleteIt is yummy! I have to admit, I don't cook anymore but do love to eat. So, when I enjoy a recipe, I add it to my collection for when I need a dish to take somewhere.
Thank you for stopping by and following my blog. I'd like to send you a copy of Recipe for Romance, Vol. 1 but need an address. Your profile doesn't list an email address, so please click on my profile and use the email address there and I'll send it right on.

Hi Val,
ReplyDeleteI bet you'll like this one if you can find the Boucan Glaze. I'm checking with a local gourmet shop to see if they can get it.
Thanks for stopping by!

WOW, very intense. Not sure I could do this one. Sharp cheddar and I are not a good match. *smile*
ReplyDeleteI'm really curious what's in the glaze though!

Oh, you can't eat sharp cheddar? That's a shame. Maybe you could substitute another cheese.
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by.
Sounds absolutely fantastic!

Maybe I could substitute another cheese!
ReplyDeleteWanted to let you know, I LOVED your book. What a fabulous story. Can't wait to read another one!

PS.. I referenced your story in my last post.
Ah, Chiron, thank you so much. So glad you liked it. And, yes, another cheese might work real well.
ReplyDeleteI have made this just this past week for a party at work. It was so good that I made it two more times for other things. This is one of the BEST dips I have ever made. The Captain Rodney's Boucan Glaze is WONDERFUL! I went back to the shop to purchase 2 more bottles and they had sold out. They said that they had ordered 4 cases before Christmas and they were gone. I am on the waiting list to get more. Trust me, this is a hit at any get together!
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad you like it, anonymous. It was a big hit at my friend's house but we have a difficult time getting the Boucan Glaze here in my community.
ReplyDeleteWow! Four cases!
Thanks for responding.
My sister-in-law served this baked dip on our recent visit. It was fabulous! In fact, she gave me a bottle of this glaze. This will WOW anyone and I'm trying to find a store that sells it instead of ordering online. If I can't find it in person...I'll certainly order as it is fantastic! Can't wait to present this to my guests!
ReplyDeleteHi Anonymous, glad you enjoyed the dip and thank you for leaving a comment to let me know. Is your sister-in-law the lady who bought 4 cases? Good luck find the Boucan Glaze near you. I sure wish we could.
ReplyDeletewhere do you buy the boucan glaze ?
ReplyDeleteAnonymous,
ReplyDeleteSome people have found the boucan glaze in their neighborhood speciality food shops. We ordered from a store in the Dallas area. They're now closed. Best thing is to search the web and order online. I've had so much interest on this recipe that I wish I owned stock!
Another good substitute for the glaze is duck sauce. It sounds a little weird, but it's really good.
