Desires of the Heart—Poor Sales—Why?—Free at Amazon.com on November 11th & 12th

Desires of the Heart, my time travel set in post WWII, has never sold well, and I'd like to know why.
Is it because of the beginning scene, one rather tough to read, a bedroom scene staring the heroine and her soon to be ex-husband? It is rather rough but was written that way because here the jerk of a husband shows his true colors?

I decided to enroll it in the KDP program at Amazon and offer it for free on November 11th and 12th in hopes readers could help me out. I hope you'll grab a copy and please leave a short review stating whether you like it or not.

Indie Publishing - First Time Around the Block!

I finally have two books independently published. Let's see, it has taken a month and a half to get them uploaded and ready for sale. So, I'd say it was indeed a learning experience and at times I questioned my decision. Now that Birdie's Nest and Desires of the Heart are up for sale at Amazon, Barnes and Noble, and All Romance Ebooks, I can look back and take note of what I'll do differently next time

First thing I'll remember is to not use a page break after each chapter but to use a section break (continuous). This will make it much easier if you want each chapter to begin on a new page.

Second, is to include a Table of Contents. Personally, I never look at them, but husband informed me he uses them from time to time. How about you guys, do you use TOC?

The third thing is to be careful how I save files. Some distributors don't want any punctuation in the title of your cover jpg or your pdf document. You can use _and - but that is all. Boy, talk about picky! But, we're talking computers here, not people so I guess it's understandable. So, if you're thinking about indie publishing, try to get in the habit of naming your documents correctly.

I'll still submit to the publishers who have published my books in the past, but not as often.

We've come such a long way from the old typewriter above and the computers and self-publishing of today. Imagine having to typeset an entire book.

Popping in for an Update

It's been mighty quiet around here for almost a month. I had foot surgery May 7th and have been immobile since then. Well, I do have a little knee scooter I can get around on but for some reason it makes my back hurt. So, I've only been out to see the doctor and I did get my hair colored and cut and we took a short road trip. But, I'll not do that again. Hopefully I'll get out of the cast and into a boot or shoe next Friday.







So, for a month I've been parked in my recliner with my foot elevated on a small bean bag chair (I assume it's a child's chair). I have been working. Last month I released Birdie's Nest and this month I revamped, revised, and lengthened a novella previously published by the Wild Rose Press. It is also a time travel but this one takes place in the UK in 1947.

Review: Wow, what a page turner. I was shocked how much I truly enjoyed this book. Not that I thought Ms. LaRoque's book was going to be bad, but I just didn't think that a book with this page length (kinda short) could be this detailed. Linda was able to put the entire story into a perfect little package. There were no frivolous words, or scenes. Only perfect symmetry and lovable characters. I will tell you the first page made me want to reach through my computer screen and throttle someone, but hey, she caught me with the first sentence.

Desires of the Heart is out today!

This story is a different one for me. My settings are usually in the west, mostly Texas, but I decided to try a different locale with this one. I love the fashions of post WWII and the laid back lifestyle. People were recovering, rebuilding lives that had been damaged by death and disaster. It was a time for hope and new beginnings.
