Grand prize is the charm bracelet. Secondary prizes are digital copies of A Touch of Texas Irish to 5 additional winners.

I'm thrilled with this new book and hope readers like it as much as I enjoyed writing it. An Irish lass, fresh off the boat from Ireland, in far west Texas married to a retired military doctor determined to not love again.

Here's a short excerpt:

"Tad, would you like to give the blessing this morning?"
"Do I hav-ta?
"Yes, son, you do."
He folded his hands on the table and squeezed his eyes tight. "Thanks for Rosa's good cooking, Lord, and for my Pa and Aunt Ruth and...Aileen." He forced one eyelid up, stabbed Aileen with his stare, and expelled a deep sigh. "I don't want no step-mother...but since I gots one, I'll try to be nice. Please watch over my Ma and baby sister up there in heaven. And if you gots time, please send me a dog. Amen."
"Amen." Sam's rumbling voice drowned out the two women's. "That was very nice, Tad." His voice was steady, but he held in his laughter. "You're wanting a dog, huh?"
Tad wiped the milk mustache from his face with the sleeve of his shirt. "Yes, sir, Pa. I'm big enough to take care of one."
"Hmm, I'll give it some thought, " he said. "Aileen, your china looks right at home there on the sideboard."

"Ach, yes. I'm so pleased with it, I could bust."
A Touch of Texas Irish will be available on March 8, 2017. It is available for pre-order now. I hope you'll pick up a copy and leave me a short review when you finish. Your opinion means a great deal.
Don't forget to enter the contest and feel free to share this post with your friends.

Heiress Aileen Lynch has just lost her mother to cancer, but her spendthrift stepfather insists she must cancel his gambling debts by marrying his disreputable associate. Fleeing Ireland with the help of her mother’s lawyer, she lands in Boston to stay with friends and is attracted to one of their visitors.

Doctor Samuel Walker is in town to attend a medical conference. When he meets the lovely young Irishwoman he is quite taken with her and, at his colleague's entreaty, marries her and takes her home to Texas with him to keep her safe. Sam rationalizes that he doesn’t need a wife but he does need a mother for his son.

While Aileen strives to earn Sam’s affection, he vows never to risk Aileen’s safety or his heart—he’ll not father a child and watch Aileen die in childbirth as his first wife did. And falling in love is not in his plans.

Shattered Vows Release Date—November 11, 2014

I'm pleased to announce my newest novel, Shattered Vows, an Inspirational Women's Fiction Story, will be released next Tuesday, November 11, 2014. It is presently available for pre-order on Amazon.

The trade paperback and Nook edition will be available on November 11 when it is for sell on Amazon. It is being published by Prayers & Promises Publications, an imprint of Prairie Rose Publications.

This story has been a real departure for me compared to the other stories I've written. Somehow the idea got in my head and had to be written. I hope you enjoy reading Annie and Stuart's story as it gave me a great deal of pleasure to write it.

Blurb:
Annie and Stuart Rayburn have loved each other since high school. Their life is idyllic until their baby dies of SIDS, and Annie falls into a deep depression. Months of therapy help her recover, and they look forward to another child sometime in their future.

Despite his own grief Stuart tries to comfort Annie, yet when he reaches for her in the night, his advances are rebuffed. In a moment of weakness, he turns to another woman. Stu learns his night of infidelity produced a baby girl. The mother died in a car crash, and her will gives Stuart custody.

Stu can’t deny the child is his, and he’s determined to raise her. He begs Annie’s forgiveness. Hurt and angry, Annie must face her demons, decide if she can forgive Stu, and love the innocent child, or divorce him and move on without the only man she’s likely to love.

I'll be posting short excerpts the next couple of days and on release day, Tuesday November 11, I'll start a contest. Stay tuned for details.

Contest for a Edge of the Cedars T-shirt

My husband and I returned from vacation last week. He won a T-shirt when we took a boat cruise  with a light show. So, I decided I needed to buy one for me. Our last stop before heading home was Edge of the Cedars State Park.

If you like all things Native American you will love their museum. I wish we'd had longer so I could have learned more. So, if you get a chance to go, plan to have at least four hours to see everything.

The T-shirt I bought is marked an XL, but it fits more like a L. I tried it on but it was snugger than I prefer. Since I can't wear it, I thought it would be good to give it away to one lucky reader. It has never been worn, brand new. Along with the T-shirt I'll give away a copy of one of my Ebooks. You choice.

I'll also give the second person's name pulled from the hat their choice of one of my Ebooks.

Here's how the contest works. Go to my Amazon.com: Kindle Store: Linda LaRoque and read through the blurbs of my books until you find the one that includes a lot of Native American Lore.

Email me at Linda@LindaLaRoque.com with T-shirt contest in the subject line and your answer (Title of the Book) in the content of the email.

On October 1st, my husband will draw 2 winners from a hat. The first winner will receive the T-shirt and one of my Ebooks of their choice. The second name from the hat will win one of my Ebooks of their choice.

I hope you're interested and that I have lots of entries.

Christmas is Almost Here

When I was a child, time seemed to move by slowly. Impatient as all kids my age, I constantly complained about it taking so long for Christmas to get here. My mother told me to just wait as the older I got, the faster time would fly. Of course, I didn't believe her.

After gifts were put under the tree, I'd shake and rattle each one with my name. Eventually I learned to carefully unwrap and then re-wrap them. I know, that's terrible isn't it? My husband rarely puts any gifts out for me until it's time to open them.

I worked as a teacher for thirty years, and often said, "I can't wait for Christmas vacation, or two more weeks until school is out for summer." One day I realized I was wishing my life away. Each summer made me a year older. Now the years fly by so fast it's hard to catch up.

I hope this Christmas you will enjoy and make the most of every moment you can spend with your loved ones and friends. It's impossible to make more time, so cherish every second now and in the coming new year.

We'll be celebrating Christmas with our grown children and our grandson. I can hardly wait.

If you haven't entered my contest for the Zuni Bear earrings, see the post below for details. The drawing will be on January 9, 2013. A Stolen Chance was released early at Amazon.com and is just $2.99 until January 9th when it will be released to The Wild Rose Press and other online book stores and will be $4.99.

Next month I'll share some of my research details from A Stolen Chance--mainly men's fragrances of that time. Very interesting.

Happy Reading and Writing and Merry Christmas and a Blessed New Year!

Celebration for A Love of His Own - a Brighton Charm

I like to celebrate my new releases with a contest. Prizes are a piece of jewelry that have significance to the story. A Love of His Own, a sequel to A Law of Her Own, and A Marshal of Her Own, is to be released on April 16, 2012 with The Wild Rose Press.

Here is a blurb for A Love of His Own.

Bull Dawson, New York lawyer, mourns the loss of his daughter, who disappeared from a cabin in Fredericksburg, Texas four years ago. A history book found in his office safe leads him to believe she traveled back in time to 1888 Prairie, Texas. He's determined that if she can time travel, he can too. Life will be different, probably hard, but practicing law can't be so difficult back in the Old West.

Widow Dipsey Thackson scratches out a living for herself and her young son on their farm. Shunned by the locals, she keeps to herself. When a man appears in her wheat field one day, life changes for the better. Then her brother-in-law arrives, claiming the farm is his and threatening Dipsey and her son. She fears for both their means of survival and their safety.

Her dilemma will take more than a knowledge of the law, but Bull vows to do his best to protect her and her boy.

Here's the prize, purchased specifically for this book. I think it's the perfect choice. You'll have to read the story to determine why.

Inscribed on the back is LOVE IS LIKE A BOX OF CHOCOLATES.

To enter the drawing for the charm, sign up for my monthly newsletter by using the form to the right. Please be sure the address is a working one. For those already receiving my newsletter email me at linda@lindalaroque.com with A Love of His Own in the subject line.

A winner will be drawn on May 1, 2012.

A Marshal of Her Own Release Contest

A Marshal of Her Own, a short time travel set in 1890s Prairie, Texas will be released in ebook format only by The Wild Rose Press on November 23, 2011.

Blurb:

Despite rumors of “strange doings” at a cabin in Fredericksburg, investigative reporter Dessa Wade books the cottage from which lawyer, Charity Dawson, disappeared in 2008. Dessa is intent on solving the mystery. Instead, she is caught in the mystery that surrounds the cabin and finds herself in 1890 in a shootout between the Faraday Gang and a US Marshal.

Marshal Cole Jeffers doesn’t believe Miss Wade is a time traveler. He admits she’s innocent of being an outlaw, but thinks she knows more about the gang than she’s telling. When she’s kidnapped by Zeke Faraday, Cole is determined to rescue her. He’s longed for a woman of his own, and Dessa Wade just might be the one—if she’ll commit to the past.

A Marshal of Her Own is a sequel to A Law of Her Own available at the Wild Rose Press, Amazon.com, B&N.com and other online book seller.

Blurb of A Law of Her Own:

She won’t let an innocent man hang

When Charity Dawson resigns her father’s corporate law firm to pursue a career as a trial lawyer, she gets more of a change than she wanted. She finds herself transported to 1888 Texas in the middle of a murder trial.

Turner Reardon is on trial for killing his mistress. He’s given up all hope when an oddly dressed young woman disrupts his trial, claiming she can prove his innocence. Her testimony is brilliant, but his optimism is short lived when she also claims she’s a lawyer.

Charity doesn’t know how she arrived in Prairie, and no one believes she actually went to law school. Her evidence is tossed out and Turner is sentenced to hang. She has only one chance to save an innocent man’s life and find the real killer.

The third story in this series, A Love of His Own is awaiting a release date.

To celebrate the release of A Marshal of Her Own, I'm having a contest. The prize is a vintage rhinestone typewriter pin similar to the typewriter given to Dessa Wade in this story. It is approximately 1 3/8 by 1 3/8 inches.

To enter, sign up for my monthly using the form to the right or send an email to linda@lindalaroque.com with newsletter in the subject line. If you're already receiving my newsletter, send an email with A Marshal of Her Own Contest in the subject line.

A winner will be drawn on December 31, 2011.

I hope you'll enter, and if you haven't read the first book, I think you'll enjoy it.

Stay tuned as Born in Ice will be out in early December and I'll be announcing a contest for it also.

Thanks for Reading and Writing.
